Early Life and Education

Mr. Romanus Owuamanam Iwuozor was born and raised in Umuduruaku, Amaigbo, where he acquired the values of discipline, honesty, hard work, respect for elders, and communal responsibility from an early age.

He attended St. Theresa's Primary School, Amaigbo (now Town School Amaigbo), where he distinguished himself as an intelligent and promising pupil. His teachers recognized his potential and foresaw a bright future ahead of him. Upon the successful completion of his primary education, he gained admission into Stella Maris Secondary School, Port Harcourt.

However, the untimely loss of family support and financial difficulties prevented him from pursuing further formal education. What could have been a devastating setback became a turning point that shaped his philosophy of life.

Determined not to allow circumstances to define his future, he embraced self-education and lifelong learning. Through relentless reading, observation, practical experience, and a thirst for knowledge, he developed himself intellectually and professionally. He often described himself as an "Uncertificated Graduate," a title that reflected his belief that true education extends beyond the walls of any classroom.

His love for books, newspapers, literature, and motivational writings became the foundation for the wisdom, foresight, and leadership qualities that would later distinguish him in business, community service, and human development.

Apprenticeship and Business Success

In 1962, Mr. Romanus Iwuozor travelled to Onitsha to begin an apprenticeship under his maternal uncle in the patent medicine trade. Like many great entrepreneurs of his generation, he learned the values of diligence, discipline, loyalty, honesty, and perseverance through apprenticeship.

The Nigerian Civil War interrupted his early business development, but he refused to be discouraged. After the war, he restarted his business endeavors with determination and resilience. His entrepreneurial success was built on trust and credibility. People knew him as a man whose word was his bond and whose dealings were guided by fairness and honesty.

In addition to his commercial ventures, he invested in agriculture and farming, demonstrating his belief in productive enterprise and self-reliance.

Yet, despite his success in business, wealth was never his primary motivation. He viewed prosperity as a tool for helping others and advancing society.

Champion of Human Development

Perhaps the greatest achievement of Mr. Romanus Owuamanam Iwuozor was not the business empire he built but the lives he transformed.

Having experienced hardship and limited opportunities during his youth, he developed a deep passion for helping others succeed. He believed strongly that true success lies in creating opportunities for other people to succeed.

For decades, he invested his time, resources, wisdom, and energy in the development of young people.

He trained, mentored, sponsored, empowered, and supported numerous young men and women through apprenticeship opportunities, educational support, financial assistance, business mentoring, and personal guidance.

Many of those who benefited from his mentorship went on to become successful businessmen, professionals, community leaders, and respected citizens.

His influence extended beyond biological relationships. To many, he became a father figure, mentor, guardian, benefactor, and counselor.

His commitment to education was particularly noteworthy. He firmly believed that education remains the greatest instrument for personal and societal transformation. Having personally experienced the pain of interrupted educational aspirations, he dedicated himself to ensuring that others enjoyed opportunities he never had.

Through scholarships, sponsorships, and direct intervention, he supported numerous students at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

His generosity helped shape destinies and provided hope where hope seemed absent.
